Adorable Puppy

This is Nikki - I just sent her portrait off to the printer and should be receiving the finished product this week. Her owners bid on a custom portrait at the Animal Friends Humane Society Bark n' Purr Ball 2010. I thank them for their generous bid, and for this adorable photo to create a portrait from!

Did a little volunteering today

I would say today has been a pretty productive Saturday! Made some brownies for the bake sale at Animal Friends Humane Society today along with their annual Easter Egg Hunt. Then I stuck around to walk a few dogs while I was there. I wanted to share two really great pups I met while I was there. And please share if you know of anyone looking for a new furry friend.

Nikki

Loved her. I have to admit that I was just a little nervous when I realized Nikki was one of the only dogs left that hadn't been walked and she just happened to be a German Shepherd. Then I remembered she was probably just as nervous for me to go in and get her out of her cage. Boy was I wrong!! Easy as pie to get the leash on her and oh was she happy to go for a nice long walk. So soft, gentle with me, walks great on the leash, and just a doll! We even worked on learning sit while on our walk, and I can tell she is a real quick learner.

Meishka

Sweet as can be! She is a very unique looking dog, they have her marked as a spaniel mix. She was too funny on the walk because she would get so excited that she would start snorting like a pig. She is so soft and after we were done walking on the muddy trail I went into her kennel to wipe her clean. She cuddle up so sweet and really enjoyed the individual attention.

Upcoming Events

I have two upcoming events in March, both for two GREAT causes! Circle Tail is an organization that trains dogs to help people with disabilities. Animal Friends Humane Society, located in Hamilton is an awesome shelter! I attend their Bark N' Purr Ball every year and it is a great time! Hope to see you at these events!

Spirit Day at Animal Friends Humane Society

What a great day! I had a blast volunteering at the Animal Friends Humane Society yesterday for my Spirit Day through work. One day each year my work gives us a Spirit Day, which is treated like a vacation day only you are required to volunteer at the place of your choice for the day.

A few coworkers and I went together yesterday and gave our time to this wonderful organization and beautiful animals. We started the day out with breakfast at Bob Evans, delicious! Then it was off to work.

We spent most of the day walking each dog individually, then did some other much needed odd jobs. I met some really great dogs yesterday, and below are a few of my absolute favorites that I may have spent just a little bit more time with.

Sarge - a gorgeous Pit Bull with a great disposition!

Roofus - this guy was bouncing up and down in his kennel when he saw that I had a leash and was coming to take him for a walk. I was a little nervous that he might be really hyper, but he walked great on a leash!

Wallace - What can I say I am a sucker for black lab mixes. Wallace is an absolute joy, and just smiles at you the whole time you are walking together.

I am going to become a regular volunteer at Animal Friends, orientation is October 23rd. I urge you to give some time at your local shelter. I had a wonderful time, met some great people and animals. Donate some time to give back to these wonderful animals that give us unconditional love.

A couple new portraits!

Cranking out some new stuff!  Here are two new portraits of mine.  

Above is one of my new portraits that will be hung in Best Friends Pet Care at Walt Disney World in the grooming area.  Once all are installed I will add some photos!

Rico - a coworker's dog that he rescued from Animal Friends Humane Society!

Speaking of Animal Friends Humane Society, I will be spending the day there tomorrow to volunteer.  The place where I work full time does this wonderful thing called a Spirit Day, which is kind of like a vacation day but you just have to use it as a day of volunteering.  I think it is a super cool idea, and much appreciated!  I think I will be walking dogs, giving them baths, cleaning out cages, etc.  Pics from the day to come later!

I fell in love today...

Thor is an amazing dog! Wanted to share his video of his visit to my work today. I want to help him get adopted! Thor is pretty close to a pure bred Rotweiller, around 5 years old, and has the best temperament you could ask for. Please share this video with anyone you may know that is looking to adopt a wonderful dog.
