Which collar for Zumaya's Christmas Present?

I've spent the morning looking for a new collar for Zumaya for Christmas. My mission was to find a trendy masculine collar. It's actually a bit harder than I thought to find a neat collar for a boy dog. But I'm down to two and need help deciding! Which should I buy and put under the tree for Zumaya my black lab? Red or blue?

I've been joyfully busy with orders for the holidays and wanted to share one of latest portraits. Will post the rest after the new year when I know all have been opened!

I had a great time at the Vinoklet Art & Wine festival! I met SO many people and it was really great weather. I just emailed the lucky winner of the $50 gift card I was giving away! Congratulations to Alicia O'Bryant! Thank you for everyone who entered. Don't forget that if you are planning on ordering a portrait in time for the holidays to get it in early, my list fills up fast!

My beautiful sister Emily and my adorable niece Natalee stopped by to visit my booth too!

I'm very excited to announce that I was accepted in Vinoklet's Art & Wine Festival which is September 10th & 11th. As well as the Loveland High School Arts & Crafts Show on November 5th! I'm really excited be participate in both of these shows, and have a lot of little things to get ready before them.

This is Nikki - I just sent her portrait off to the printer and should be receiving the finished product this week. Her owners bid on a custom portrait at the Animal Friends Humane Society Bark n' Purr Ball 2010. I thank them for their generous bid, and for this adorable photo to create a portrait from!

This portrait started with a very beautiful and creative photo. I love the lighting on the original, and the expression on her face is just priceless!

This portrait was ordered as a birthday present just about a month out from the actual birthday and was completed and delivered with days to spare.

I would say today has been a pretty productive Saturday! Made some brownies for the bake sale at Animal Friends Humane Society today along with their annual Easter Egg Hunt. Then I stuck around to walk a few dogs while I was there. I wanted to share two really great pups I met while I was there. And please share if you know of anyone looking for a new furry friend.

Nikki

Loved her. I have to admit that I was just a little nervous when I realized Nikki was one of the only dogs left that hadn't been walked and she just happened to be a German Shepherd. Then I remembered she was probably just as nervous for me to go in and get her out of her cage. Boy was I wrong!! Easy as pie to get the leash on her and oh was she happy to go for a nice long walk. So soft, gentle with me, walks great on the leash, and just a doll! We even worked on learning sit while on our walk, and I can tell she is a real quick learner.

Meishka

Sweet as can be! She is a very unique looking dog, they have her marked as a spaniel mix. She was too funny on the walk because she would get so excited that she would start snorting like a pig. She is so soft and after we were done walking on the muddy trail I went into her kennel to wipe her clean. She cuddle up so sweet and really enjoyed the individual attention.

Animal Friends Humane Society, located in Hamilton is an awesome shelter! I attend their Bark N' Purr Ball every year and it is a great time! Hope to see you at these events!

A few orders from the Holidays

The holidays are over, and I hope yours was wonderful! I enjoyed my time with my family, and lots of board game playing and puzzle fixing. I had a couple of portraits that I was saving to post until after the holidays because I didn't want to ruin any surprises.

On a sadder note, good friends of mine Joey and Jenn lost their sweet sweet Frankie to a sudden illness that was untreatable just yesterday. I did a portrait of Frankie a while back, and she was one of Zumaya's girlfriends. This news is so sudden and devastating. Frankie was just 4 years old. Thoughts and prayers go out to Joey and Jenn. Little Miss Frankie you will be deeply missed.

Best Friends Pet Care at Walt Disney World

I recently had a couple good friends of mine, Gina and Matt, go down to Walt Disney World for vacation. While they were down there they stopped by Best Friends Pet Care to check out my work! Here are a few pictures that they sent.

Spirit Day at Animal Friends Humane Society

What a great day! I had a blast volunteering at the Animal Friends Humane Society yesterday for my Spirit Day through work. One day each year my work gives us a Spirit Day, which is treated like a vacation day only you are required to volunteer at the place of your choice for the day.

A few coworkers and I went together yesterday and gave our time to this wonderful organization and beautiful animals. We started the day out with breakfast at Bob Evans, delicious! Then it was off to work.

We spent most of the day walking each dog individually, then did some other much needed odd jobs. I met some really great dogs yesterday, and below are a few of my absolute favorites that I may have spent just a little bit more time with.

Sarge - a gorgeous Pit Bull with a great disposition!

Roofus - this guy was bouncing up and down in his kennel when he saw that I had a leash and was coming to take him for a walk. I was a little nervous that he might be really hyper, but he walked great on a leash!

Wallace - What can I say I am a sucker for black lab mixes. Wallace is an absolute joy, and just smiles at you the whole time you are walking together.

I am going to become a regular volunteer at Animal Friends, orientation is October 23rd. I urge you to give some time at your local shelter. I had a wonderful time, met some great people and animals. Donate some time to give back to these wonderful animals that give us unconditional love.

Rico - a coworker's dog that he rescued from Animal Friends Humane Society!

Speaking of Animal Friends Humane Society, I will be spending the day there tomorrow to volunteer. The place where I work full time does this wonderful thing called a Spirit Day, which is kind of like a vacation day but you just have to use it as a day of volunteering. I think it is a super cool idea, and much appreciated! I think I will be walking dogs, giving them baths, cleaning out cages, etc. Pics from the day to come later!

Took a great walk this morning with Zumaya, I love this weather! Here is a pic of him after the walk and his bath enjoying his chew flip! It's amazing how happy a 30 minute walk can make your dog.

And here is a recent cat portrait I finished and delivered. I was really excited about the way this one turned out! I had a great picture to work from, and really like the layout.

And finally, congrats to the Cincinnati Reds!! They made the playoffs this week, and I am pumped to root for them through it all the way to the World Series! Let's go Redlegs!!

A few exciting things...

Wow. The month of August was one crazy one for Ali's Paw Prints. Orders have been coming in, as well as one big opportunity from Best Friends Pet Care at Walt Disney World!

Above is a pic of my booth at Second Sundays on Main in downtown Cincinnati. I had a really great time and met some neat people. I am doing another event coming up September 12th, the Mariemont Arts & Crafts Festival. It runs from 11am-5pm. Mariemont is a really need town, and I am really looking forward to this show. Other exciting news: This past month I was contacted by Best Friends Pet Care at Walt Disney World to create the artwork for their new facility that opened September 1st at Walt Disney World! What an amazing opportunity for Ali's Paw Prints. All artwork has been finished and is now on it's way down to Florida. Below are a few pics from the printers - DLS Photo / CEI Sports. Thor is an amazing dog! Wanted to share his video of his visit to my work today. I want to help him get adopted! Thor is pretty close to a pure bred Rotweiller, around 5 years old, and has the best temperament you could ask for. Please share this video with anyone you may know that is looking to adopt a wonderful dog.

Good friends of mine who have an awesome pet photography business, Love Mutt Photography, have started a new project that will raise money for pit bull rescue as well as hopefully shed some true light on this very misunderstood breed…and they need your pitties! They are looking for 30-40 pit bulls and/or pit mixes to be photographed over the next several months.

Zumaya had his very own photo shoot held by Love Mutt Photography! The photo shoot was a blast, and Ashley and her husband Matt make a great team when it comes to getting the perfect shot of your pet. I was really surprised at how smooth it all went; they make taking a photo of your dog look easy!

Winter is just around the corner, which means Christmas shopping is right around the corner...ugh. Where has this year gone! Zumaya recently had an at home photo shoot, directed by me, for the picture I hope to create a portrait of. I was really pleased with this picture and can't wait to turn it into a huge portrait.

He is just so sweet...

Circle Tail Fashion Show and Wine Tasting
I also wanted to share an event with you that I have been invited to be a vendor at. The event is for a group called Circle Tail and the event is a Fashion Show and Wine Tasting. It will be held at Valley Vineyards is in Morrow on November 15th from 1p-3p. It should be lots of fun, and there will be Wine!

Greater Cincinnati Craft Business Co-op
This past Thursday I attended the first meeting for the Greater Cincinnati Craft Business Co-op (name subject to change). I am so thrilled to have found this group. Even though it is just getting started I have already learned a lot of useful information. I wanted to invite any fellow crafters in or around the Cincinnati area to join this group!

We hope to accomplish the following:
- Compile a complete list of craft fairs with booth fees and registration deadlines for all our members to use
- Provide a support network for artists to get the low-down on what fairs are worth the time and effort, to save money of display materials and tents, to swap leftover raw materials, and to provide emergency back-up when you run out of change, need a bathroom break or your booth collapses!
- Inspire and educate with presentations and discussions on getting started, selling online, selling in boutiques and galleries, making a website, using credit cards and cash registers, featured local artists, and getting rich and famous.

If you are interested in joining this group please feel free to email Heidi at heidiallenbaugh@gmail.com for group meeting dates and times. We do not yet have a website, but hope to in the future.

My very first blog post...I've very excited to get started and hope your check back often. Here is a photo of my very first booth at Petpalooza '09 held at Riverdowns. It was a very fun event, and very exciting for me to be able to talk about Ali's Paw Prints to many people. I had homemade dog biscuits to hand out with my business cards.

I hope to expand my booth A LOT each time I attend a show. The response was great! And I was able to do a lot of networking. If anyone is reading this and looking for vendors for their events please email me :) I am looking for a lot of events to help get my name out there.

Ideas I have besides the prints are designed canvas totes, mouse pads, mugs, greeting/thank you cards...

So far I have finished two portraits and hope to start one of my Black Lab Zumaya next. Red is his color so definitely a red background.
